Tips on how to study to achieve your best results

We all know the struggle of studying, whether it is for a simple test or a major exam. Make sure that you achieve the best results without the stress and pressure that you usually go through, by following these simple steps.

Step 1: Time Management

It’s all about time management. Give yourself enough time to go through everything. Spreading out your work over a certain time period will not only allow your brain to absorb the information better, but it will also give you sufficient time to revise (instead of cram) closer to the exam. This is easier said than done, but create a schedule that you can handle and stick to it.

Step 2: Be Organised

Keep your study zone organised. Clutter will only aggravate your tired mind. By organising your space, you will ensure that you are focused on work instead of being distracted with other things.

Step 3: Your Method

Everyone has their own methods of studying, some people prefer visual methods such as flow charts; diagrams; highlighting important sections; online videos; or even rewriting notes. While others prefer verbal methods such as study groups with friends; explaining answers to others; or even studying out loud in front of a mirror. Find the method that works the best for you and go with it.

Step 4: Revise

Revision is a great way to diminish stress and anxiety. Practice on old exams that you have answers to. It is the best way to test your knowledge without the pressure. Old exams help you see which sections you need to brush up on and it also gives you the chance to time yourself because they will have a similar duration.

Step 5: Regular Breaks

Taking regular breaks while studying will help your mind rest and rejuvenate so that you are ready to absorb information during your next study session. A study session should last for 90 minutes and a study break should not exceed 20 minutes. A well-planned out study break will not lead to procrastination.

Step 6: Eat

It is important to eat while studying. Snack on brainfood. Some of the things you should be snacking on are blueberries, black currants, pumpkin seeds, and nuts. Brain foods rich in antioxidants, good fats, vitamins and minerals provide energy. So get your snack on!

Step 7: Bio-Strath

Bio-Strath supports concentration and memory especially during long durations of intense studying. Remember to take yours daily!

There will be nothing stopping you achieving your end goal.

Good Luck!
